**Fusion Festival**
About an hour north of Berlin, on an old Russian airfield
was reclaimed by a buch of hippy artist-types and converted into the yearly
4-day party called Fusion Festival. Chelsea, Dave, Felix and I went to check it
out.
But first things first, the fellas needed new hair cuts, so
Chelsea and I sat them down in a field and gave them the business mohawks they
so desired.
Felix was ready
Dave was unsure
We weren’t sure what a “business mohawk” really was, but
gave it our very best.
Success! (Success?)
We didn’t take very many pictures at the
festival, but I was really impressed by many of the structures and wanted to
document some of them.
The old Russian bunkers have been converted into
stages or, in this case, the Kino (cinema).
This one is a stage
An arch of living trees – when you look at the
size of the people, it’s impressive to think how old those trees are!
Chelsea, our friend Phil, and Felix check out
the scene from the top of a bunker.
**France**
Felix and I packed the van and drove down to the Atlantic
coast of France – excited for surfing, warm weather, and the ocean.
SuperHirn and a bottle of wine – what could be a
better combination? Sunset at Messanges beach.
The best pain au chocolat in the world just after a wake-up
swim in the ocean – what could be a better combination? Sunrise in Anglet.
One of our favorite surfing beaches in Anglet
**And on into Spain**
What a beach! And right in the heart of San Sebastian
I love San Sebastian, but in the middle of the
day in the middle of July, it was a bit too hot and crowded for me and
Felix. We went in search of the perfect
beach for camping and surfing, knowing that the wave forecast for Spain was
terrible and finding a place to park the van overnight right on the beach in
the tick of tourist season is pretty much impossible. And then we found it –
the perfect, secret beach!!!! Just east of Mundaka, surrounded by rocky cliffs,
a little stretch of sand and dune grasses. We stopped for the night and made
dinner. …
…and drank beer and ate cherries
Felix checks the surf at sunset – great view
from the back of the van!
I know. This is one of only 3 pictures I took including
surfboards or wetsuits. Hard to believe we were on a surf trip. We had the
sunset surf of dreams here, though, at the secret beach we just so happened
upon.
Heading out from out secret little beach.
Next stop: Pampalona. We may have been the only
ones in the city who didn’t realize it was Running of the Bulls until we got
there and saw all the people dressed up in white and red. Quick, let’s get out
of here!
Nowhere Festival!
Erwin, Robin, Felix, me, Chelsea, Dave, Robert, and Sinziana!
